INFORMATION NEEDED: DORIS HENRY ALDEN, BETTY ANDERSON, ELEANOR MASON ARMSTRONG, MAXINE BAGNARO, & BERTHA K BARSTOW

Some artist alumni of Pasadena Society of Artists are well known and documented.  Others are not.  Here are five former PSA members which we are seeking information about from family, friends, art dealers, and the collecting public:

DORIS HENRY ALDEN  Doris H Alden was born in 1904 and died in Irvine, California, April 8, 1999; Ohio University, class of 1926; won award at Women Painters of the West show at Friday Morning Club, Los Angeles Times, February 8, 1949, page B-1; retiring teacher from Muir High School in Pasadena.

BETTY ANDERSON  Active in the 1960s and 1970s, Betty was juried into PSA in 1968.  Likely ran Betty Anderson Studios in South Pasadena and taught art at Holy Family School.

ELEANOR MASON ARMSTRONG  English artist.  Also known as Baroness von Mauch after marrying Baron Alexander von Mauch.  Photographs of paintings are particularly needed.  While a resident of Pasadena in 1917-31, Eleanor ("Evylin") Mason Armstrong had a short-lived art school.

MAXINE BAGNARO   All information and documentation is needed about Maxine.  We need biographical information, photographs of the artist, and photographs of her work.

BERTHA K BARSTOW  All information and documentation is needed about Bertha.  She was likely a patron of the arts rather than an artist herself.  A Bertha K Barstow award is given in her honor by the Pittsfield Art Museum.  Similar awards were given out by art societies to which Bertha was a member, including PSA.  Probably married to George E. Barstow, and likely lived in Connecticut.
